Halfway There! Week 9 Update

I can hear the announcers now: “they’re rounding the bend and are in the home stretch!” As we cross the halfway point of the campaign, I am excited to share an update with you about our progress.

Before I get into the numbers, though, I want to remind you of a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson…

“Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful, and you will accomplish your object. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

In completing the final half of the 2024 campaign, I would encourage you to let the life and vibrancy of supporting local charities cultivate immense enthusiasm within your department. Take a moment this week to tell your department why you personally and enthusiastically support the State Combined Campaign!

Cease every opportunity possible to engage with people about why this is important and what they can do to help. Let’s continue to rally around our common goal of making an impact in Alabama communities!

I am pleased to share that we have raised 52.84% of the statewide goal thus far! All-in-all through Week 9, State of Alabama employees have contributed $414,763.74 to this year’s campaign. These donations represent the generous support of 3,487 contributors, which is just 10.36% of all Alabama state employees.

See below for the Week 9 report, as well as a year-over-year comparison report. Check your department’s progress and make every effort to increase participation.

Here are some great stats for you about this year’s campaign…

  • Alabama employees have given to over 325 charities and their local chapters
  • The average SCC donation amount is $118.00, up 5.3% over last year
  • Over 82% of the total contributions so far has been given through payroll deduction — continue encouraging this great giving avenue!

Tremendous progress has been made so far, but we still have plenty of ground to cover! Among your co-workers and teams, encourage giving at any level as we push ahead to the $785,000.00 statewide goal!

As of this morning, 37 department (or internal divisions) have surpassed their goal in “Giving for the Gold!” Congratulations to this week’s gold medalist

This week, I’d like to share about some equine friends in Chilton County that are providing therapeutic services to military veterans, first responders, and countless others. BondFire Ranch exists to warm the hearts of members and families through communication-based resiliency activities, allowing them to reconnect with nature and each other.

Be sure to circulate this story among your coworkers to get them connected with what the SCC is all about!

There’s nothing better than being a blessing! Thank you for enthusiastically supporting Alabama charities, providing hope to countless lives.
