Keep it up! Week 5 Update

You all made a hard PUNT down the field in Week 5! As of this morning, we saw an increase of over 10% toward the statewide goal, closing out the week at $214,592.64 from 1,594 contributors. What incredible momentum you’ve continued to drive! While we’re still slightly behind the pace compared to previous years, this is still a great increase to see in one week.

Make a small milestone goal for yourself as we enter Week 6 to receive a few more pledge cards than you did last week. Or, to talk with a couple more people this week about the state campaign than you did last week. Small intentional steps lead to huge strides in progress. Always, always, always encourage participation at any level. Remind people of the availability and convenience of payroll deduction — “it’s a gift you won’t miss, that someone else will never forget.”

Drum Roll, Please!

It’s very exciting to see how many departments and internal divisions hit their goal this week! Congratulations to this week’s gold medalists…

Forward this story to everyone in your department! Not only does it spark joy, but it also paints a beautiful picture of why generosity is so important and just how FAR donations to the State Combined Campaign reach.

Global Impact is one of the SCC’s giving federations. They partner with Rise Against Hunger, which is a growing global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives, and responding to emergencies. Recently, a young mother in Nicaragua became a recipient of Rise Against Hunger programs. Yaritza and her husband were struggling to survive in an impoverished part of their country.

Yaritza’s husband works in the sugarcane fields to support their family, but the work fluctuates, which sometimes results in an extended period of time between payments and causes economic challenges for the family. Yaritza’s family previously ate two meals a day, mostly consisting of rice and beans. During this time, she was underweight and anemic. Yaritza is focused on finishing her degree to ensure she can provide the best for her child. Adequate nutrition ensures she can focus on her studies as she works to achieve this goal.
