Week 2 Update!

Though today is Friday the 13th, I have some lucky news for you…

At the close of Week 2, we currently stand at $44,945.52 generously given by 319 contributors! While giving has slowed this week, as well as compared to last year, I am confident that can continue to push the ball down the court toward our $785,000 statewide goal.

Congrats to the Inmate Health Services division of the Department of Corrections for exceeding their internal goal by 175.49%!

Provide each person in your department or division with the opportunity to give by placing an SCC brochure and pledge card in their hand. The biggest hurdle to overcome is a lack of awareness on what or how to give. Let’s help breakdown that hurdle through our enthusiastic and intentional interactions!

Find some fun ways to engage your coworkers in this upcoming week! With the weather being slightly cooler and rainy, host a Chili Cookoff. Use some giving incentives like the United Way Donor Reward Cards or a casual dress pass. Encourage giving at every level as we collectively support the great Alabama charities that participate in the State Combined Campaign!

Also, I encourage you to share the WHY of the campaign with your coworkers. Tell them why you love serving as a coordinator or why you give to the specific charities you do. Share an SCC story with them, like this one from the Lassiter Family, who serve as foster parents with Agape of Central Alabama. Agape has a mission to ensure that vulnerable and orphaned children find permanency in safe, nurturing families. Stories like this help to connect people to the importance of giving, allowing them to see the life change that comes through their donation.

Mr. Lassiter said in the video that, “when we say, ‘speak life,’ it’s more than just our words, it’s our actions. It’s how we live.” Agape of Central Alabama is one of many SCC charities that seeks to help transform communities through life-giving work. You can copy and paste this directly to hear the Lassiter Family’s adoption journey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPxUbE33VIE. It can also be found on the “Videos” page of our website, where several other great resources are listed!

As always, if you have any questions or need assistance of any kind, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Have a great weekend!
